Egil Roland, TM of the norweigan Team, has announced me that they already have team site. The adress is: http://www.f3x.no/f3b/2007/index.htm Egil, I hope we will meet in Emmen and we'll exchange our t-shirt team. ;-)
This is the rebirth of F3B at Home. Do you remember? After my experience as helper of the Spanish team in the F3B WC in Laappenranta I have decide to make a "relaunch" of F3B at Home. Maybe the new name should be F3B at Blog but I prefer to go on with the old name. So welcome to my blog!

Joe Luxford from Perth with a Spanish plane!!!
Joe from Perth has written to me. He has a Tempus, a Spanish f3f/f3b plane made by Iñaki Elizondo and flies in nice slopes :-P
Sergi,
Sergi,
I was just looking through the photos on your photo hosting
web site atPBase. Very nice!
I have a Tempus and fly F3F here in Western Australia.
I noticed some Tempus photos on your web site. Can you
tell me if the Tempus is still competitive in F3F in Spain?
I have appended a couple of photos from our F3F in WA.
We make the 4 hour drive from Perth to Albany each March
for our annual F3F championship and then the 7 hour drive
to Esperance in October each year to fly F3F.
Regards,
Joe Luxford

Diavolo video
If you want to know deeper Heiner Fischer's plane, you can see this video from f3bfrance blog.
I prefer f3b than bikes, no doubt
Until last minute we haven't decided to go to the field. All weahter forcast said us Sunday would be a rainy day. In Barcelona (99 km to the field) was very calm and Sunny, Jerez Gran Prix was on TV, but finally we decide to pack and go to the adventure. We had to fly my father's Crossi... and we did it. No rain and good wind. A nice and quiet day. Some photos here.

2007 Season Speed/Practice Meeting. Venue Retford.
2007 Season Speed/Practice Meeting.
18th March 2007.
Venue Retford.
Quite a bright but breezy start to the morning, and plenty of new models on show. Steve Haley with his new Estrella (JD?) I think that is right. Paul Carrington sporting his new Skorpion (F3B). Bill Haley with a Crossfire (x tail). All the above pilots had not flown their models prior to this outing so had to setup and trim during the day.Dave Worrall had both the V and X tail Crossfires out. He is still in debate as to which one he prefers.
As mentioned above most pilots had not flown their models prior to this event so most of the morning was taken up with trimming etc. It was apparent however that Steve Haley combined with his new Estrella is going to be the one to beat again this season with some phenomenal launches seen.
The new F3B Skorpion flown by Paul Carrington also looks to be a close contender with really good launch potential and looking very crisp in the speed task with Paul really shaving the coarse. On this occasion the Skorpion looked most at home around the pylons. Will it be as good at thermaling or distance, we will have to wait and see. Clive Needham (CD) demonstrated our new coarse set up procedure with the laser distance measuring equipment.
Results.
Steve Haley took top honours recording a 15.29
1. Steve Haley 17,34 / 18,66 / 15,74 / 15,97 / 18,96 / 15,29
2. Paul Carrington 15,75 / 0,00 / 18,62 / 17,34 / 16.56 / 15,58
3. Dave Worrall 19,74 / 17,82 / 17,97 / 18,30 / 16,44 / 16,76
4. John Whittle 20,58 / 18,11 / 20,07 / 17,87 / 17,21 / 17,36
5. Norman Quirk 24,78 / 19,71 / 19,61 / 21,03 / 18,41 / 18,49
6. Bill Haley 21,27 / 21,62 / 33,37 / 23,99 / 24,31 / 20,37
7. Clive Needham 0,00 / 0,00 / 18,62 / 0,00 / 0,00 / 0,00

They are like kids with new shoes...
Today a lot of people has released new planes: Carles -Aris, Dani - New Age "Herex", Javier - Nyx Furio and Sergi Subias - Crossi V. My father was not able to finish his Crossi V. We'll see it next week :-) Another friend that has new toy is Laurent Gauthié (FRA). He has a Diavolo!!!!! First impressions in f3bfrance blog.

That is a good after-sales service
A new f3b sunny and windy Sunday with my father Daniel and Walter (as helper). We are very lucky so not everybody can train with the builder of your planes Very good feelings with New Age, very fast and very easy to flight in duration. I have "some" problems with launches (I'm a litle bit blockhead) so I need more time to set the launch. Daniel has brought his brand "new" New Age (black and red stripes). Daniel is the test pilot. His first New Age was a version for DS (double carbon in wings) and his new one has wings made with Herex. Next weekend more flights... I hope! Very few photo's here.

F3F National Open Santa Coloma
This weekend I have been in a National F3F Open in Santa Coloma, near Barcelona, so this time I didn't have to travel. I "achieved" 13 position (we were 13 pilots :-P). We made 10 rounds on Saturday and 5 on Sunday. In my first flight this morning I have crashed my V-Ultra with the wiring of a pylon. Good things: Serg Subias (team mate of F3B at Home Team) was third. The winner was Iñaki Elizondo and second, Daniel Portella (he always comes back with a prize). Photos here.Wednesday, February 21, 2007
First contest of North Island F3B Series
Sunday, February 18, 2007
I have a genuine F3B machine :-)
Today I have made my firsts flights with New Age. Very good feelings, actually I had never had so good feelings with a plane its first day. But before go to field club I have been in Walter's house with my father and Sergi Subias (3rd pilot F3B at Home Team) to pick up my father's New Age. We met in the field with Daniel and Javier Portella. We were late. Sorry Dani and Javier :-P When we have almost set everything it started to rain, so we seized the opportunity to have lunch (not launch) and take some photos of our New Ages. Rain finished and was time for flights until six o'clock. Next Sunday more flights :-D Some photos here.

Coll de Lilla 2007
Today has begun a F3F Catalonian League. First contest has been in Coll de Lilla (one of the the most feared slopes of the league because the landing) Four rounds made. We didn't have more time for f3f because Calçots were waiting us for lunch. I go on with my slow progress. I have new personal record 48.XX seconds :-P Winner was Javier Portella wih a X-Race. This time dad bit his two sons. Second was Carles Aymat with a New Age and third my team mate Sergi Subias with Crossi. Next contest will be a f3f national Open in Santa Coloma (near Barcelona) I know this blog is a f3b one, but who cares if I talk a little bit about f3f? Next Sunday first flights with my New Age :-O Photos here.

A plane came from Hell: Diavolo
After a lot of years of comercial and sport success, Heiner Fischer is going to produce his new model: Diavolo. For this new project he has joint good partners to develop this nice plane: Team “KiKa”, Ulrich Trautwein, Carbon Vertrieb, ... Its price will be the most expensive among top planes. Look here more info about technical data and prices (from f3bfrance blog)

So unlucky... and lucky at the same time
A new Sunday on the field. Javier and Daniel were not able to meet with us so we were flying with Alberto and Carles. Friday evening I changed the wiring of my Caracho aileron servo, so I thought the problem was fix. I was completely wrong, today the servo go on with shaking. Last test was to switch on an other JR radio like mine and servo was quiet and working OK. Next step will be to send my JR to Technical Department of JR in Europe :-( I'm lucky because my father had ordered a JR and some servos for my New Age but is stopped in Barcelona airport duty. So now I don't have radio and fuse servos for my New Age!!!!! Next week I have the first f3f contest of the year so I have two weeks to resolve my radio/servos problems. It's not a good beginning. At least my father let me make some flights with his Furio. Today I seized the opportunity to bring my NA to our field club (as soon he gets the felling with his trainig field easier to trim him :-P) and to make some photos with my father as model.Sunday, January 28, 2007

My first flight with a New Age
Today I went to the field club without my father. I'm very lucky to have friends like Carles who picked up to me in the train station (one more time). Today had to be a transition day waiting for set up my New Age, and it really was a transition day. When we arrived to the field I realized I have forgot my Caracho's Wing joiner :-( So today I spent my time to help Carles, Dani and Javier with their flights. Dani is a very good friend and although he flights with elevator in left hand (I use right hand with elevator) he has borrowed me his New Age. I have made two flights (no launches) with very good feelings, I hope my New Age will works as good as Dani's one. He has told me some secrets :-P like CG and tow hook position, so it will be easier to trim my weapon for this season. Some photos here.

First traininig of the year
First traininig of the year. Carles, Alberto, Javier, Daniel, my father and me. We met at 10.30 but we arrive at eleven :-P Some chat while Javier was flying his heli and Alberto his new hand launch. We start to fly a little bit late. Wind direction was not clear and we're pretty lazy. Finally we set the winches in one of the corners of the field. While my New Age arrives I go on flying with my Caracho. Signal reception problems are not arranged. Servo and receiver were changed and my right aileron is still shaking when the radio is closed to plane. Next step, change the wiring. If everything is ok next weekend I will go to Walter's home to pick up my NA, and maybe I will also fly on Sunday. One year ago I began to work with F3B at Home blog and a lot of things has happend, good things like the Europhia flying, my good performance in f3b nats and Palencia contest, the trip to Italy and my new speed record, and bad things like my very bad performance in Madrid contest and Europhia crashing. Bad and good experience will help me to be a better f3b pilot (I hope to have more good ones like bad ones :-P )

A new aeromodelling discipline: F3B-X
This season are going to be offered a lot of new planes. Most of them are from Germany. Planes like Diabolo, Supersonic-R and Radical are going to lead a sort of plane designed and made by most prestigious pilots and builders (Marcus Becker, Martin Weberschock, Martin and Andreas Herrig, Heiner Fischer,..) with amazing features and also amazing prices. 1500, 1600 and 1700 euros are figures very common in priceslists. For this season my choice is for New Age "von Walter Reist". A HQ/W profil and Masterpice fuse. Very, very cheap comparing with german planes (about 900 €). Last year I had just one Europhia, this year I want to have two units of the same model and fly as much as posible before the season begins. A new discipline is born: F3B-eXpensive!!!!!

Happy New year guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On 31st we meet my father and me with Portella family (Javier, Alberto and Dani) to make last flights of the year. I was not able to fly because a tail servo was ko so I spend my time to make some launches and photos. Lot of termal and quiet flights (no training stress),pleasant chat with everybody in the meal and planning next season. We are tempted to go to a lot of contests in and out of Spain. In next weeks we fix our f3b calendar. My New Age is very closed to be in my hands. Walter has came from his Christmas Hollidays so I hope to have my New Age very soon :-) It was not the best end of year but 2007 seems to be a amazing year. Photos here.Saturday, December 30, 2006

Daryl Perkins designing a f3b model...
Read in RCSE list. A man with emailed with wcx4@yahoo.com (4 f3b wc = Daryl Perkins for the time being) has post this email:
"Hey Guys,
Working on a new F3B toy, and the fuse is long and skinny. I know some of you
have worked with bladders in the past... where the heck can I get them?
And no... the plane is not available yet... but it's getting closer.
It'll be called the Schizo... long story... you'll have to buy the book... ;-)
Thanks!!!
D"
So D. Perkins is designing a new f3b model. I would kill for one. I'm sure there will be a T tail version ;-) Now we will have to wait for more news :-P

Bretamodel site has a new section: Photo Gallery, where you can see photos from two contests at the moment: Lotha and Marchfeld-Pokal. Visit and enjoy!!!
Tool information from Stefan Eder

Stefan Eder has sent me some more accurate info about Tool:
"TOOL is made for F3B- but depending on the conditions and slopes it is also competing in F3F. my team-mate christian Fiedler flew TOOL at the F3F Viking Race 2006 !
For our team we went for no compromise: 1-piece wing ! but for serial production and shippment to cutomer it will be a 2-piece wing !!
Startair is official distributor and producer of the model ! TOOL is made with experience from CROSSFIRE. we wanted to test a new airfoil and v-tail. Model was flown by Andreas Kunz in F3B EuroTour 2006 with good success and the model has good potential...! it handles and launches very good.... airfoil has slightly more camber than Crossfire airfoil. Dimensions and geomtric is very similar to CROSSFIRE-V !

Carlos Cantero has a Ceres :-P
Carlos Cantero has received a new plane: Ceres. This plane is made by Jiri Baudis. It is a 2.9 meters span with a f5b profil. So we have a plane very fast with a very good launch, maybe it will have some problems with some durations. I think this plane is made with the same pilosophy like Herrig brothers Shocker. So it will be a plane with very good results.

Warp looks so nice but...

A new f3b Sunday. This time with no tragedy, now I am flying my dear Caracho until New Age arrives. Daniel, Carles and Javier are still trimming their new Walter Reist planes meanwhile my father, Alberto and me are waiting for them.
Both planes are really good, maybe Warp is easier to fly but I'm afraid you can have some problems with the T tail in case you make a non nice land (very common in contest when you are looking the 100 points in landing, here we don't have golf fields for f3b contest just hard lands) Warp or New Age... this is the current question. In my case: New Age!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I future everything could happen ;-)

North Island F3B Series are finished, winner of A league is Dave Larsen and B league has been won by Rhys James. You can read a report with complete results in f3b.org.nz site. Congratulations to the winners!!!!
Warp release

My friend Javier has released his new Warp-T, this plane is made by Walter Reist like New Age and my new winch. Almost all mates of my f3b team are waiting (or they already have one like Daniel and Carles) planes from Walter. Alberto has ordered a Warp, and my father and me a New Age, we expect the planes will made in January :-P So maybe next season will be a Reist Team or New Age Team :-P
UK Team for World Championship
The pilots of the UK team will be: Dave Worrall, Norman Quirk and Bill Haley (read in F3B UK yahoo group).
:-(
Two weekends ago we begin our preseason. Wind was very crossed (90º) In one of my launches I lost control of my Europhia and I couldn't restore the path and finally the plane crashed into asphalt truck. It was a fast death, he didn't feel any pain. My relationship with Europhia it has been short (from February to Novembre). We have spend nice moments (but few ones) I'm not going to order a new Europhia (my f3b budget don't let me do it), so now I will go on training with my Caracho waiting for January when it will arrive my New Age.

New Age Photos
I have uploaded some more photos (Carles Aymat is the owner) about New Age. This is my model for next season. I'm very happy with my Europhia but there are two handycaps: my model is too heavy for f3b competition and the price for a new one is too high for me. So I think New Age is a good option for me, Daniel Portella is flying a prototype and Carles Aymat will release his very soon. Also I thinks is very interesting and easy to train with people that is flying the same plane that you. I ordered it yesterday afternoon and will be delivered in January :-) I will keep you informated with the tests of my friends. New photos here.

Don't buy a Saab II, 6th, 7th & 2nd and more things...
:-( F3B season is almost ended. Fantastic four days that began like a nightmare. We went
to Palencia on Thursday very soon to be in the f3j nats in the afternoon. After 150 km, the car was ko again Argghhhhhh!!!! I thought it was the end of the travel but we feel like going to the contest we decide to rent a Opel Zafira. The matter was that that Thursady was holiday so was very difficult to rent one. Finally we arrive three an a half hours later but our firends decided to make the contest on Friday morning. :-)
We made 5 rounds in f3j contest plus a fly-off of four pilots. I took advantage of the contest to trim my Europhia in duration task and landing. Launching in rounds was made by winches with 150 meters of line. Just fly-off was f3j pure because we don't have enough tools for everybody. The planes got highest altitudes with turnaround pulley :-P I just make one almost 1o minutes flight (first round strangly). Finally I was sixth. After the contest begun to arrive people and we met to have launch and make some flights later. I tried to trim the Europhia for speed making some flights waiting for first day of contest.
F3J Results:
1- Ruben Merino Gomez
2- Jesus Merino Gomez
3- Andoni Gorriñobeaskoa
4- Andres Cardona Vidal
5- Adrian Rodriguez Otero

Next day was the first day of competition. This time we had in F3B at Home Team our friend Carles Aymat. Almost all day long we had light tail wind so the launches were a litlle bit shorts. You had to get altitude looking for the thermal in distance and duration. The left side of the field had a good performance so a lot of disatnces were won with 20-24 laps. In my case I flew my Europhia without ballast (so 2.4 kg) and worked really well. Duration task was very stressful. Few times I got a good thermal, lot of times I was flying in low altitude looking for small thermals. I was very good with landings, a lot of 100 points (I think :-P). After the end of the day I moved back the hook 1 mm. because I felt the launches hadn't been enough good. I made a test fly. Everything OK so we went to rest and have dinner. Mmm...
Secon day crossed wind. We had two directions to set the winds, so until midday we were changing of position our winches :-P We tried to make 6 rounds to discharge the three worst tasks but there was not enough time. Second day I improved my scores.
The team was second classified :-) Maybe we could improve our scores because I was the helper of Carles in a lot of distances and durations. I don't have enough experiences to "see" thermals and position of the plane with base b :-P My father has two problems. First of all his FC-28 becames crazy and the settings were ko so he had a lot of problems. When he restored his radio during a distance task (with good conditions and running a lot) he crashed with Iñaki's Aris. Aris was down and my father could land with a wing tip of Aris in the edge of the Furio's wing :-(

to Palencia on Thursday very soon to be in the f3j nats in the afternoon.

On 1st October was held the last contest of the season in Belgium. The organizer was the Aero Club of Incourt. No results but you can see photos made by Marc Verwilghen in f3zone.be
F3F Spanish Championship 2006
Competition was cancelled on Sunday after some attempts on Saturday and Sunday. Well, maybe I have a problem with slopes or slopes have a problem with me. Medically we can talk about Allergy. When I'm in a slope with the intention to be in a contest automatically the slope give up to work to make f3f flights :-P I haven't found the good treatment, but some people have to propose not too see me never in anymore contest :-( I'm jinx!!!!!!!!!!!! Some photos here.
L'équip de France
France already has team for f3b wc. Another team made. Spanish one will be decided next weekend. I have already won my place as helper :-P. Info about the french team here.

f3b.biz launches with New Age Report
My friend Alberto Portella is the webmaster of a new site: f3b.biz The first report is about the new plane of his brother: New Age by Walter Reist. The report is in spanish so I would write a little report about Alberto's comments. Here I go:
"Model design based in Masterpiece of Dr. Helmut Quabeck. It keeps the profil and the fuse (with elongated length). Winglets in the ending of the wings. The cosntruction of the wings are based in sandwich carbon, balsa and fiber glass with a strong bolster made with fiber carbon. Fuse made with fiber glass, carbon and aramida (Kevlar). All with CNC forms
Wing Span: 3190 mm.
Area wing: 64 dm2
Profil: HQ/W 2/8
Weight: 2200 - 3500 grms."

Aer-o-tec news
Thank you to Carles Aymat and Chris Jubb, they have sent me this info about Aer-o-tec news:
Aer-O-tec wants to inform about the latest news !
Crossfire V
1) The brand new v-tail fuselage is now ready for delivery!
We designed a 2-piece v-tail fore easy transport and reduced masses and drag. So we expect to see improved performance in f3b duration, distance and speed as well as even more agile handling especially for slope and f3f flying !
2) Following Crossfire versions are available now:
Crossfire F3B, with choice of standard elevator ( B) or new ( 3 cm more span and new airfoil ) elevator(J) and 5 or 6 degree joiner !
Crossfire extreme: double carbon layup in wing and carbon elevator with reinforced fuselage.
Crossfire V: with choice of 5 or 6 degree joiner.
Crossfire E: modified fuselage for use of brushless electro motor ! cross or v-tail available !
3) Crossfire has won already world championship f3B – now about 8 years after our design of the legendary ESCAPE ( Jaro Müller / Euromodell)
Time has come for a new approach to F3J: ---ORCA F3J---
In early 2007 we will offer a new and clever F3J model:
It will feature 2 piece wing and v-tail. Airfoil with 2,35 % camber and 8,55 % thickness and will come already with 2 interchangable wingtips for a wingspan of 3,40m or 3,63 m. this will allow maximal performance in various weather conditions ! 2 models for the price of 1 !
There will also a special electro fuselage available !

News from Norway
Source Espen Torp (yeahhh!!! Top pilots also see my blog):
"Some info from Norway F3B scene:
After the Norwegian qualification is finished the team for next years World Championship is the same as the 2 previous Championships with Widar Holmedal, Erik Morgan and Espen Torp.
Erik will fly Crossfire, Espen will fly RaceM and Widar is uncertain but maybe it will be Victor.
We are all looking forward to meet old friends in Switzerland. We are pretty sure that the Swiss will make a very good event.
Best regards,"

F3B League Event 6
A new report from Chris Jubb and some photos. Thank you Chris, I hope we will meet someday :-P
Against all predictions the weather was very kind apart from low cloud and mist for the best part of the morning..
A late start due to the weather and a major signalling problem meant that the B league had to drop the distance tasks.B League results were calculated on just two rounds of duration and speed.
Simon Jackson and Bill Haley took top points in duration 1 with some fine flying in difficult conditions.Norman Quirk, just missing a top slot due to a mistake on landing which nearly de-capitated him.He did however record the most number of legs in distance with the help of some good air with 23 against the closest runner Johnathan Wells with 21.Bill Haley unfortunately broke his Pike Giant landing out after the first distance task this ended his day.
Round 2 Distance was led by Dave Worrall piloting his Carracho to 20 laps 2 laps ahead of John Whittle.
Round 1 Speed Steve Haley had a problem with his ElFurio (Estrella fuselage and tail unit with Furio wings). With full ballast? It blew apart on the zoom. The fuselage assembly landed in the nearby lake and required Steve to undertake swim to retrieve.
Speed 1 was taken by Paul Carrington (Big Sting) with a creditable 16.97sSpeed 2 and John Whittle took the points with 17.66 in difficult conditions.
A rather poor showing for the B league only four entries. With not very good weather forecast I guess most just took a few more hours in bed.
A League
1-John Whittle
2-Dave Worrall
3-Simon Jackson
4-Paul Carrington
5-Norman Quirk
6-Bob Dickinson
7-Johnathan Wells
8-Steve Haley
B League
1-Mike Kitchen
2-Clive Needham
3-Chris Jubb
4-Phil Jackson

F3B German Team for WC'07
The appointment of the members who will represent their countries next summer is going. In Spain two pilots are already appointed (Daniel Portella and Iñaki Elizondo) and third one will be confirmed in last contest of the season in two weeks. The USA team is made and with the end of the Eurotur 2006 Germany has also made his team: Andreas Herrig, Martin Herrig and Reinhard Liese will defend the team victory in Finland (I think they are with the Swiss Team my favourites for the Team class) and keep or "improve" the individual results. Personally, it has been a big surprise martin Webershock (winner of the Eurotour 2006) there is not in the team. I don't know exactly how works the german system to make the team, but Germany allways have a very good team. They are so lucky...!!!!!

Second f3f attempt failed, too... :-(
The F3F Catalonian Championship has been cancelled because air, so it's possible I will have to trim my V-Ultra "never flown in a slope" Edition in the first round of the f3f nats. Yeaaahhhh!!!! It's not bravery, it's madness :-P Some people like Luis Mejias and Javier Portella haven't had very luck in test flights so the the thing most similar to fly f3f has been a Heli flown by Javier Portella.
